# How can i remove the metadata file in apk?

hi, I found that when I use kotlin in my project, the apk size will increase 100k, cause it will contain the kotlin metadata files. what is this use for, can I remove it from apk? thx~

This should help:

> Add this to the `android` block in your app module `build.gradle` file:

```auto
packagingOptions.exclude '**/*.kotlin_*'

```
