Since Kotlin is the officially (by Google) recommended language for Android, I would go with Kotlin. Some new APIs, like the new UI library Compose, will not even be available for Java or only with a delay or a subset of features.
I suggest to learn Kotlin and only learn Java specific things if needed (
NullPointException come to mind).
I think there’s a mistake in that phrase.
