Question about lang-specific patents

Hi all
I want to start a gcc-based kotlin/native compiler and I want to extend my knowledge about kotlin lang-specific patents. I mean: if I implement a kotlin 1.0 compiler (or any version) and its standard library, can this project face some legal issues ? this is the question…

I know that this is not a patents-specific forums (and maybe no one can answer this answer accurately), this is just a counsel.

Hi there,

Kotlin is under the Apache 2 licence (there are also a bunch of other licences used across the codebase, listed here. I see no issue in trying to port K/N to GCC (good luck with that :slight_smile: ).
