Can't access class 'XXX marked with @JsModule annotation from non-modular project

#1

I try to convert my multi-module / multi-platform project to the “new” project and Gradle plugin model described at: https://kotlinlang.org/docs/reference/building-mpp-with-gradle.html#setting-up-a-multiplatform-project

When converting my JS library project I get the following error each time I reference an external declaration:

Can’t access class 'XXX marked with @JsModule annotation from non-modular project

What does “non-modular project” mean and how can I avoid this error?

#2

During experimenting with the project setup I got

org.gradle.api.GradleException: Compilation error. See log for more details

This new plugin model seems very unstable :frowning:
Besides, there aren’t any non-trivial examples, eg. how compileKotlin2Js/kotlinOptions can be specified…

Can you please set the moduleKind property in your Gradle build, this should help: https://kotlinlang.org/docs/reference/js-modules.html#from-gradle

#4

Can you help which DSL element supports this configuration?

kotlin {
    targets {
        fromPreset(presets.jvm, 'jvm')
        fromPreset(presets.js, 'js')
    }
    sourceSets {
        commonMain {
            dependencies {
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-stdlib-common'
            }
        }
        commonTest {
            dependencies {
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-test-common'
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-test-annotations-common'
            }
        }
        jvmMain {
            dependencies {
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-stdlib-jdk8'
            }
        }
        jvmTest {
            dependencies {
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-test'
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-test-junit'
            }
        }
        jsMain {
            dependencies {
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-stdlib-js'
            }
        }
        jsTest {
            dependencies {
                implementation 'org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-test-js'
            }
        }
    }
}

// Where should I put this line? I tried several parent DSL elements. Browsing the source code on Github didn't help...
compileKotlin2Js.kotlinOptions.moduleKind = "commonjs"

Hi, @snorbi. Please take a look at this configuration example, does it work for you?

I haven’t seen this, I will give it a try, thanks :slight_smile:
